A Mexican soldier burns coca plants in the mountainous area of Atoyac de Alvarez, Guerrero state, Mexico, on February 15, 2023. Mexican soldiers on Wednesday destroyed an unusual coca leaf plantation in the town of Atoyac de Alvarez, in the southern state of Guerrero, an area best known for growing poppy, the base ingredient for producing heroin. The Mexican army said the plantation had an extension of almost one hectare with 800 square meters, one of the largest found so far.
