Take part in AFP auction "Discovering past icons"

On Saturday 5 November 2022 at 2pm GMT, AFP will be auctioning 200 fine art prints and the first three NFTs of its history at Ellia Art Gallery in Paris, and also on drouot.com. 

 

From October 26 to November 5, 2022, Ellia Art Gallery will be exhibiting in the Marais district of Paris 200 collector’s prints from the photo archives of AFP, the world’s oldest news agency. The agency is offering visitors an exceptional selection, sometimes iconic, sometimes unpublished, which at the end of the exhibition will be auctioned off at Ellia Art Gallery in Paris and on drouot.com.

The event will be marked by the sale of the first digital single editions (NFTs) in the Agency's history. In collaboration with laCollection.io, partner of the British Museum, three NFTs will also be available for purchase:

  • a digital duplicate of the very first AFP dispatch from 1944
  • a photograph of Serge Gainsbourg burning a 500 franc note live on television
  • a photograph of Bernie Sanders, wearing his mittens at the 2021 presidential inauguration, an image that went viral and generated countless memes

The lots on sale are very high quality modern prints made by the Dupon laboratory and presented in Nielsen frames, offered as unique copies, signed and certified by AFP as "special edition N°1/1".

All the funds raised will go towards safeguarding and restoring the agency's photographic archive, to ensure the preservation of this priceless historical, cultural and artistic heritage. Dive into the catalogue with the PDF version.

  1. Fill in the purchase order (don't forget to tick TELEPHONE AUCTIONS) on page 141 of the catalogue and send it before Saturday 5 November to contact@ader-ep.com.
  2. A staff member from the ADER Entreprises et Patrimoine team will call you at the time of the auction of the lots in which you have expressed an interest.

  2. On Saturday 5 November, go to their dedicated pages to participate in the event and bid live

 

Not available on November 5? Send your purchase orders now 

  1. Fill in the purchase order form on page 141 of the catalogue (do not forget to tick BUY ORDER) and send it before Saturday 5 November to contact@ader-ep.com.
  2. A staff member from the ADER Entreprises et Patrimoine team will bid on your behalf for the lots you have indicated, according to your maximum bid
