Headquartered in South Korea, the climate tech company Greenery, Inc. provides a range of net-zero consulting services including climate action planning, Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), and climate risk management.
This year in October, Greenery launched ENVION, an LCA software solution which provides detailed insights into the environmental impacts of products throughout their life cycles. Already, ENVION is in the final stages of negotiations with global industry giants.
Additionally, Greenery operates POPLE, a voluntary carbon credit certification center and marketplace. The POPLE Secretariat maintains high standards for credit verification while ensuring smooth transactions in the marketplace.
At COP29, through two case studies of transitioning to low-carbon agriculture, Greenery will be introducing new ways to combat climate change in a seminar on November 12.
The first case study will explore a smart farming system, developed as a joint flagship program by South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency. By monitoring paddy water levels in real time, this farming system can both reduce methane emissions and conserve water.
In the second case study, Greenery will demonstrate how livestock waste, a major source of greenhouse gas emissions from farms, can be converted into biochar. A compound word combining “biomass” and “charcoal”, biochar can sequester carbon for around one hundred years, making it highly effective for carbon reduction.
The talks in the seminar will be followed by a panel discussion on cutting-edge technologies and methodologies for reducing agriculture's carbon footprint. The discussion will be joined by Saskia Sanders, a Senior Policy Advisor at Switzerland’s Federal Office of Agriculture; Pankaj Kumam, Founder and Managing Director of Enviance; Soojeong Myeong, a Chief Research Fellow at the Korea Environment Institute.
During the exhibition which will be running from November 11 to 13, visitors will be treated to eye-opening presentations about sustainable farming practices.
"The Conference of the Parties brings together the world’s leaders to shape solutions for a sustainable future,” said Yoosik Hwang, CEO of Greenery. "We’re here to show that agriculture isn’t just part of the problem of global warming. It’s a crucial part of the solution.”
COP29 marks the latest gathering of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), where governments and organizations worldwide come together to address pressing environmental challenges. This year's conference in Azerbaijan continues to advance the global dialogue on greenhouse gas mitigation and sustainability.
